this horse is not a home is an exploration of movement, propelled by intimate connections with performers Margot Bassett, Jaamil Olawale Kosoko, and Meghan Milam. the choreography is rooted in the idea of both trying on and meeting the other explored in movement that notices the presence and absence of space and cherishes the weight of bodies as they fall, extend, and flourish. the tether between one and the other is physically present in emory’s 18-foot-long hair extension of braided tail.

the creation of this horse is not a home was supported, in part, through a commission from New York Live Arts’ Studio Series program with support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and the Jerome Foundation.
